We are seeking a highly skilled Data Storage Specialist to join our team in Melbourne or Canberra. This 12-month contract role requires an individual with expertise in storage infrastructure management, including SAN, NAS, and converged infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Setup and Preparation:
    • Formulate and submit requests for information related to the implementation and operation of existing storage platforms.
    • Review available documentation and participate in workshops to understand existing storage systems.
    • Develop and maintain storage operations documentation, such as System Understanding Documents and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Demonstrate readiness for service go-live in accordance with the established service plan and schedule.
  • Ongoing Storage Operations and Administration:
    • Monitor storage systems to ensure their health and performance.
    • Conduct regular health checks, performance management, and availability management.
    • Manage storage capacity, perform patching, and handle routine administration and maintenance tasks.
    • Resolve incidents in both production and non-production environments, aiming to minimize downtime and performance impacts.
    • Address and work through backlogs of storage-related problem tickets.
    • Provision storage resources and fulfill service requests related to storage.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement:
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for storage infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
    • Align storage operations with DevOps and Agile principles.
    • Support the adoption of automation for storage management and operational tasks.
  • Collaboration and Compliance:
    • Work closely with other storage administrators and broader infrastructure teams.
    • Implement and adhere to security best practices, ensuring compliance with applicable security standards.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

The successful candidate will have experience working with storage systems, preferably in a government or federal environment. A basic knowledge of IT Service Management and ITIL frameworks is desirable. The salary for this role is around AU$90,000 - AU$120,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Familiarity with storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and converged infrastructure.
  • Certifications: Basic knowledge of IT Service Management and ITIL frameworks.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
