Drug and Alcohol Clinician Role

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women dealing with substance use. As a Drug and Alcohol Clinician, you will play a vital role in providing support, guidance, and education to help them achieve their goals.

About the Role

The Women's Therapeutic Day Program (WTDP) is a holistic, person-centred, and recovery-focused environment designed to address the complex needs of women impacted by substance use. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments, individual case management, and counselling services.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer support and guidance to women as they work to address their substance use in a safe and therapeutic setting.
  • Perform comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments and provide individual case management and counselling services.
  • Lead psychoeducation groups on various topics, including life skills, relapse prevention, and harm minimisation.
  • Establish critical connections and referrals to both internal and external community services.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, or an equivalent health-related discipline.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in drug and alcohol or mental health services.
  • AOD-specific training or be in progress.
  • Experience working with individuals impacted by substance use and family violence.
  • Excellent clinical skills, particularly in assessment, treatment planning, and health education.
  • A current Driver's Licence and a Working with Children Check.
