The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a Lead Cyber Security Specialist to join our team.
About the Role
This position is accountable for performing complex technical security investigations within an integrated workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Work independently with reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes;
- Ensure that all identified breaches in information security are promptly managed according to Defence policies and procedures;
- Lead a team and have accountability for setting work priorities and managing workflows, with the expectation of building team capability through coaching, feedback and development of team members;
- Exercise people and financial management responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes;
- Liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex and sensitive issues;
- Identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve Defence outcomes.
About Our Team
We are a multi-disciplined team consisting of APS, ADF and contractors that work with all Groups and Services to support the protection of Defence information system capabilities.
The Directorate of Cyber Security Assessments and Authorisation is responsible for performing Cyber Risk Assessment, Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing, Supply Chain Risk Assessment, and technical evaluations of hardware and software products, to verify and validate our security posture. We support a wide customer base across all Defence Groups and Services and collaborate closely with other government agencies and international partners.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience of relevant cyber security frameworks and policies relating to Australian government ICT systems;
- Well-developed organisational and comprehensive analytical skills;
- Understanding of the security features and capabilities of hardware products;
- Demonstrated experience in presenting/explaining systems security, strength and weaknesses;
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder relationship management skills;
- Able to work under limited direction, with the proven ability to manage competing priorities to a high standard of accuracy, within allocated timeframes;
- Flexible, self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast paced environment.
