Coal Laboratory Technician Job Opportunity

OverviewALS is renowned for its industry-leading coal quality assessment expertise, boasting over 70 years of experience in delivering exceptional results.

  • We are seeking a Casual Coal Laboratory Technician to join our team based at our Mayfield site in NSW.

The successful candidate will be required to work various shifts, including weekends, and must possess a valid driver's license. This role involves handling coal samples, processing them according to instructions, and conducting physical tests, including sample preparation and sizing.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • • Handling coal samples and processing them according to instructions and current best methods
  • • Loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams
  • • A range of physical tests, including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing, and sample storage
  • • Transfer validated results into the reporting system
  • • Calibration and maintenance of specialized equipment

Requirements:

  • • Valid driver's license
  • • Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork
  • • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • • Ability to organize work, multitask, and meet tight deadlines
  • • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • • Comfortable with safe manual handling duties, including repetitive lifting
  • • Competent within a strong safety culture
  • • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems
  • • Previous coal sampling experience would be an advantage but not essential
  • • Flexible and able to perform shift work and weekend work as required
