Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Technical Officer – Emergency Systems. This role will play a critical part in supporting the development and maintenance of our state-wide radio communications and emergency services management systems.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position based in Cronulla, NSW, where you will work closely with our IT team and operations to integrate mission-critical systems and support volunteer members across NSW.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with radio communications and IP network systems, with a project management approach to coordinating technical work. They will also have proven systems administration skills, especially in managing virtualised environments like VMware, and experience overseeing vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and expanding the MRNSW VHF marine radio network and associated systems
  • Coordinating and administering procurement for suppliers and services
  • Managing a virtualised computing environment supporting digital communications infrastructure
  • Assisting in budget monitoring for radio and IT infrastructure projects
  • Reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures related to communications and IT
  • Collaborating with vendors and supporting contract management for key service providers
  • Visiting sites across NSW to support volunteer units and troubleshoot systems in person


About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in radio or communications, with a solid understanding of data networks and their integration with radio systems. You will also possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to adapt your approach for different stakeholders.

You will be a calm and composed individual, capable of solving complex issues under pressure. A curious and proactive approach to problem-solving will serve you well in this role.

Technical Requirements:

  • Familiarity with VHF/UHF radio systems
