About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting safety procedures, performing examination tasks on fleet, inspecting train electrical systems, implementing necessary train modifications, troubleshooting electrical systems, interpreting electrical drawings, adhering to Metro's Quality System, participating in multi-skilled training activities within their competency, completing tasks in accordance with approved standards and instructions, and responding to incidents such as derailments, collisions, and other events that involve rolling stock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safety procedures and inspections to ensure safe and reliable running of the train fleet.
  • Perform examination tasks on fleet to identify and rectify any issues or defects.
  • Inspect train electrical systems to detect any faults or anomalies.
  • Implement necessary train modifications to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems to diagnose and resolve any issues or faults.
  • Interpret electrical drawings to understand system designs and configurations.
  • Adhere to Metro's Quality System to ensure high-quality workmanship and compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in multi-skilled training activities within your competency to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Complete tasks in accordance with approved standards and instructions to ensure efficient and effective completion of work.
  • Respond to incidents such as derailments, collisions, and other events that involve rolling stock to provide support and assistance.

About You

  • You hold a relevant trade qualification as an A-Grade Electrician.
  • You are willing and flexible to work day/afternoon shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • You possess a valid Australian Driver's Licence.
  • You have demonstrated experience as an electrician, desirable to have worked within a similar industry.
  • You have previous experience in a maintenance role and a fast-paced environment.
  • You are proficient in electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Additional Requirements:

  • If successful, you will need to obtain and maintain the following certifications:
  • Track Safety Awareness (Level 1)
  • Train Track Safety Awareness (Level 3)
  • Rail Safety Competency and Medical Assessment (Category 3)
  • Qualified in First Aid (Level 2)

Salary Information:

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
