**Job Title:** Aboriginal And Islander Education Officer
East Kimberley College is seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEO) for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The College is located on a large, well-maintained and attractive site in the centre of Kununurra. The school draws from a diverse town population representing Aboriginal communities, agricultural, horticultural, mining and related service industries. An extensive range of State and Commonwealth agencies are represented in Kununurra and they work closely with the school to ensure the best support is available for our students.
**The Role**To be successful in this role, you will ideally be reliable and flexible, whilst providing support and effective assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their parents/guardians, teachers, the school and the community through the knowledge, understanding and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture.
Part of the role of the successful applicant will be to act as a liaison between the community and the school in order to develop an education program that is relevant to both educational and cultural needs.
AIEOs assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to ensure their participation and achievement in the school environment.
The AIEO will also support teachers to implement the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
The College is one of the largest Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in the State with approximately 940 students enrolled.
With almost 52% of enrolments being indigenous, it also has the largest enrolment of Aboriginal students of any school in the State.
An understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework will be essential.
**Eligibility**To work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multi-cultural direction in the development of the educational program, development of language resources, and evaluation of education and behaviour management programs.
Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
