Senior Laboratory Technician

This role oversees the daily operations and maintenance of Histology, Immunohistochemistry and Histochemistry services. It involves managing equipment, providing user training and supporting researchers and students in the use of these facilities.
The Senior Technical Officer works closely with the Microscopy Lead Academic and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Histology, Immunohistochemistry and Histochemistry services.
- Manage equipment and provide user training.
- Support researchers and students in the use of these facilities.
- Collaborate with the Microscopy Lead Academic and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery and support.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven skills in routine histology, histochemistry and immunohistochemistry techniques.
- Proficiency in brightfield, fluorescence and confocal microscopy techniques.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- High-level organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and sound judgement.
- Ability to develop protocols, train users and manage online equipment/resource booking systems.
