Job Title

A qualified and experienced Social Worker Counsellor is required to provide crisis and short-term counselling and support to clients, face to face or on the phone.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to minimise the legal process's impact on clients
  • Assist clients with referrals to essential services
  • Conduct outreach, including visits to remote and regional communities
  • Represent the organisation in community education and advocacy initiatives
  • Provide informal debriefing and support to colleagues to enhance awareness of wellbeing in a trauma informed organisational framework
About the Organisation

The organisation is a nationwide service, supporting victim-survivors of childhood abuse and the Stolen Generations in accessing legal redress and justice. We offer free, confidential services to help victim-survivors navigate their compensation and redress options, including through assistance in applying to various schemes.

Our team provides free legal assistance, financial counselling, social support and specialised cultural support for First Nations people. With a trauma-informed and culturally safe approach, we empower victim-survivors to make informed choices on their path to healing and justice.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking a professional with:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling
  • Eligibility for membership with a relevant professional association having completed a recognised degree
  • 5 years + relevant experience
  • Experience providing trauma-informed counselling
  • Cultural competency – experience working respectfully and in a culturally safe way with First Nations communities
  • Strong teamwork & stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to self-care and reflective practice
