The role involves driving a van between food collection points and St Giles pantry sites across London, loading the vehicle in line with food safety and manual handling regulations.

The successful candidate will ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness, report incidents, and react calmly to traffic or other scenarios, always maintaining courtesy and professionalism.

This is a volunteer opportunity for those who want to make a difference in a vital voluntary role. If you are a physically fit, proactive and organised individual with experience of working in a van delivery role, preferably in food distribution and use of chilled vehicles, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

Requirements
  • A full and valid driving licence
  • Physically fit to manually load heavy items
  • Experience in van delivery, preferably in food distribution and chilled vehicles
  • Food safety and hygiene qualification or willingness to obtain one
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Awareness of safety issues related to driving, loading, and unloading
