HVAC Controls Engineer Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC controls engineer to join our team in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with experience in diagnosing and repairing building automation systems using direct digital controls, airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory, and applied control strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair existing building automation systems, utilizing technical expertise in direct digital controls, airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory, and applied control strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair systems, provide quotes for remedial works, and perform ongoing planned maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Represent the company as the primary customer contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing, quoting, and repairing equipment and systems at the customer's location.
  • Coordinate with team leaders and customers to understand requirements for on-site repairs, examine building layouts, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize work within a team environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
  • Enforce safety standards to the highest corporate and legislative levels, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in the relevant industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of HVAC and building management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with customers, colleagues, and peers.
  • Current QLD driver's license and construction induction card, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Trade-qualified in a relevant trade, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of HSE industry requirements, including health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Applied knowledge of BMS engineering principles and energy conservation measures, allowing for optimized system performance.
  • Hands-on experience in building management systems, with a strong technical background in HVAC and central plant or energy solutions environments.
  • Experience working on small service projects, demonstrating ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Technical knowledge in HVAC and central plant or energy solutions environments, with high-level technical competency in BMS and related control products/devices.
