Senior Trading Underwriter Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Trading Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting function, you will be responsible for developing and executing underwriting strategies to drive growth and margin improvement.

The ideal candidate will have extensive technical knowledge of our products, including features, market dynamics, customer requirements, and sophisticated pricing practices and methodologies.

You will work closely with our Underwriting Head and Product Manager to set financial plans and meet or exceed them. Additionally, you will maintain knowledge of the market, including legal, economic, competitive, and socio-demographic factors that influence our ability to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing underwriting strategies for product(s) and executing them to ensure growth and margin improvement.
  • Working with Underwriting Head and Product Manager to set financial plans for product(s) and meet or exceed them.
  • Maintaining knowledge of market, including legal, economic, competitive, and socio-demographic factors that influence the market and our ability to be successful in it.
  • Building and developing portfolio with broker partners to meet or exceed financial plans.
  • Underwriting range of risks according to underwriting appetite and refining it constantly.
  • Acting as point of technical referral and opinion from other members of underwriting team, brokers and internal functions.

This role requires extensive technical and trading expertise in product(s), frequent collaboration with other business functions to deliver first-class propositions to chosen market, and strategic input and financial responsibility.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience include:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of product(s), including features, market dynamics, customer requirements, and sophisticated pricing practices and methodologies.
  • Gravitas and clarity of purpose to give confidence to senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Detailed understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance provisions that apply to UK motor insurance market.
  • Clear understanding of risk management principles: identifying, monitoring, and managing risks that threaten achievement of objectives and future success of our business.

This combination of skills, experiences, and knowledge will ensure contribution to development of underwriting strategy and risk appetite and achievement of short and longer-term financial plans.
