The OpportunityWe are seeking a Corporate Lawyer to join our premier Band 1 Capital Market Transactions team in Melbourne. The team undertakes both capital markets work and public and private M&A, and is currently advising Chemist Warehouse on its landmark merger with Sigma.
Working closely with our leading and highly awarded partners, you will have exposure to some of the best and highest profile initial public offerings, capital raisings and mergers and acquisitions in Australia, as well as a significant volume of cross-border transactions.
Our team is high performing and highly engaged with a significant focus on teamwork and learning.
Your day could typically involve:
- Being involved in all aspects of corporate ECM and public and private M&A transactions, including drafting and negotiating key transaction documents and providing advice on all areas of the transaction to clients.
- Working closely with our clients, their other advisers and regulators.
- Ensuring key deadlines are met, including working closely with other legal teams across the firm to deliver an integrated service to our clients.
- Assisting in building external client relationships, including business development activities for key existing clients and new clients.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be an admitted Lawyer in Australia or New Zealand.
- Possess at least 3 years' experience in a leading corporate M&A practice or equivalent, with exposure to ECM transactions.
- An excellent academic record, and a high level of attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of, and contributor to, our leading and supportive team.
- An ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously.
- A curiosity about our clients, and an eagerness to create an exceptional experience for them.
- A genuine passion for corporate law, with a natural desire for continuous learning.
