The Staff Geologist Role

This position exists within the Non-Operated team, whose primary responsibility is to create, protect, and deliver maximum value from APLNG's joint ventures.

The Staff Geologist role takes guidance on strategy and workload prioritisation from the Subsurface Lead and is responsible for the geological assessment of current and future exploration & development activities for all Non-Operated fields that contribute to the APLNG Portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the geologic assessment of proposed activities for Non-Operated existing and future field strategies
  • Cross-asset collaboration between the APLNG operated assets and the QGC/GLNG operated assets to share learnings and overcome technical challenges
  • Identify and develop Subsurface initiatives to help JVS meet strategic objectives
  • Prepare Technical Committee Meeting (TCM) presentations
  • Provide support as required for the annual Reserves and Resource Assessment on the Non-Operated areas
  • Provide technical input to identify and review geological, geophysical and any other relevant data in developing geological models as part of the appraisal of Non-Operated resources

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology
  • Proven industry experience in CSG operations, exploration and development
  • Technical Communicator – able to communicate technical insights simply to diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience integrating multiple subsurface disciplines, including reservoir engineering, petrophysics, geophysics and well design
  • A practical knowledge of resource estimation and risk analysis is required
  • Understanding of Conventional Play and Prospect Generation
  • Geological data QC experience
  • Petrophysical interpretation experience
