We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Transmission Asset Engineer to join our Asset Engineering Enquiries team.

About Us

SSEN Transmission is a leading business in the UK's energy sector, owning and operating the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland. Our mission is to provide a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the communities we serve, while playing a critical role in the transition to a low carbon future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering expertise to analyse and assess engineering enquiries affecting overhead lines, cables, and substations.
  • Collaborate with other Asset Engineers to learn about other asset classes and share knowledge.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide engineering data and assessments within specified timescales.
  • Work in line with policy, standards, and legislation, recognising potential risk to transmission assets and providing recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Develop a clear understanding of asset management systems and best practices, and participate in the Institute of Asset Management IAM Certificate syllabus.

Requirements

  • An engineering qualification at degree level, or equivalent HV networks operational experience.
  • Design experience relating to overhead lines, underground cables, or substation assets.
  • A positive and flexible attitude, with ability to respond to emergent challenges paired with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • An understanding of legislation, policy, and standards and how they apply to asset management.
  • Experience of data management systems such as Autodesk Vault, View Point, Trimble Construction One, MS Share Point, Cyber Hawk I Hawk, ESRI Arc GIS, IBM Maximo, EA Technology Invest.
