The Logistics and Distribution Leader plays a pivotal role in managing domestic and international shipments to facilitate vehicle distribution, ensuring seamless delivery from production sites to distribution centres and customers throughout Australia and New Zealand. This position is responsible for ensuring that all processes related to vehicle shipment, handling, and delivery are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards.

This person will collaborate with logistics providers, internal and external stakeholders to reduce costs, optimise logistics operations, and maintain service quality and compliance. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of supply chain management, be passionate about logistics, and have a proven track record of managing complex logistics operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of all aspects of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products to customers across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Leadership and management of the vehicle logistics team, providing coaching, mentoring, and support for professional development.
  • Identification and implementation of strategic plans to resolve issues related to shipping, inventory, and transportation, maintaining a solution-oriented mindset to ensure smooth logistics processes.
  • Development and implementation of logistics strategies and processes that align with sustainability goals and objectives.
  • Collaboration and communication with team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Collaboration with third-party logistics providers, transportation carriers, and warehouses to ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to vehicle logistics, such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, and vehicle damage rates.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a team and work cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively manage and optimise logistics operations.
  • Knowledge of logistics regulations and experience with customs and trade compliance would be preferable.
