The University of Melbourne's Faculty of Science, School of Agriculture Food and Ecosystem Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to play a key role in conducting supervised research aimed at enhancing nitrogen use efficiency in Australian grain cropping.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute significantly to the research effort of the team and develop research expertise with increasing autonomy.
- Conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high-impact journals, under the guidance of Senior Academic staff.
- Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne.
- Participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings as opportunities arise.
- Contribute to the preparation of research proposal submissions to internal or external funding bodies as relevant.
- Contribute to scientific mentoring and supervision of research students.
- Completion of a PhD in agricultural science, soil science or related discipline with a sound understanding of soil nitrogen cycle.
- Demonstrated experience in field crops research with a focus on improving fertiliser use efficiency.
- Experience in monitoring greenhouse gas emissions from soil.
- Skills in data collation and analysis.
- A demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.
