About the Role

The National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Conservation Ranger to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment and preservation of Aboriginal culture.

A core responsibility of a Conservation Ranger's work is to ensure that NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service's obligations are met through the conservation of both natural and cultural heritage values of parks.

Effective management of natural and cultural heritage involves planning, implementing and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, and field-based activities including bushfire management and law enforcement.

The role also involves assisting with interagency initiatives; visitor infrastructure projects, ecological restoration, threatened species recovery actions, wildlife management, undertaking compliance activities, weed and feral animal control to protect and conserve the natural, historic and cultural heritage values.

About You

Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and customer service skills will be key to your success in this role. A proven record of achievement in operational and environmental planning in sensitive natural, historic and cultural landscapes is essential.

You will have strong communication skills (oral and written) with an ability to influence communication across large and diverse stakeholder groups. A motivated, flexible, adaptable, team-oriented approach when working in a team to ensure expectations of customers, stakeholders are met.

Job Description

This position requires an experienced professional who can effectively manage natural and cultural heritage values. Key responsibilities include project planning, implementation, and supervision, environmental assessments, and stakeholder liaison. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required to ensure successful delivery of projects and programs.

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Proven experience in conservation and environmental management;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Capacity to plan, implement and supervise projects;
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies;

In addition to these requirements, you will also need to have a good understanding of the natural and cultural heritage values of NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
