About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Chief Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Data Centre Engineering Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centres, including the maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster, ensuring seamless coverage of critical systems.
  2. Oversee the installation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, including generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment.
  3. Develop and implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  5. Establish performance benchmarks and conduct analyses to optimize facility operations and maintenance.
  6. Generate Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets for events that require DCEO attention.
  7. Work with DC managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  8. Develop and maintain documentation relevant to business and facility operations.
  9. Review and manage routine maintenance and emergency services for critical systems.
  10. Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new facilities.
  11. Drive and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
  12. Manage facility assets and provide infrastructure and inventory asset management.
  13. Attend and participate in regular Construction and Operational Meetings as required.
  14. Familiar with Work Order compliance to ensure all contractual SLAs are achieved.
  15. Interface with Infra Ops management for day-to-day operational requirements.
  16. Assist in recruiting efforts.
  17. Assist in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering or services issue.
  18. Deliver exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
  19. Day-to-day supervision of a team of Engineering Operations Technicians.
About the Team

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Qualifications
  1. Ability to participate and manage a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster with team leadership experience.
  2. 4+ years of relevant work experience in maintaining a DC or Critical Space facility, or other critical environment with Technical (Military/Trade School) training.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Further education in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline.
