Indigenous Research Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead research focused on advancing knowledge and practice in First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB). The appointee will contribute to the SEWB research program at the Black Dog Institute, making independent or original contributions within their field.
The role involves leading strengths-based research to improve SEWB outcomes for First Nations individuals, families, and communities. This includes collaborating with a multidisciplinary academic community to advance SEWB knowledge and practice, developing and leading studies in areas including Workforce SEWB and Workplace Wellbeing, Child and Youth SEWB, Tertiary Student SEWB, First Nations Suicide Prevention, and Novel Treatments for SEWB.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead research projects focused on First Nations SEWB.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues to advance SEWB knowledge and practice.
- Develop and lead studies in key areas of SEWB research.
- Investigate culturally informed interventions and co-create knowledge with First Nations communities and stakeholders.
- Mentor junior researchers and lead research teams.
- ID as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- PhD in a related discipline or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in research on First Nations SEWB.
- Proven ability to lead research teams and mentor researchers.
- Strong understanding of cultural, social, and historical contexts influencing First Nations SEWB.
- Commitment to staying up-to-date with disciplinary knowledge.
- Track record of high-quality research outcomes and leadership potential.
