Indigenous Allyship Researcher

The Australian National University is seeking a talented Indigenous Allyship Researcher to contribute to a groundbreaking ARC project led by Dr Olivia Evans.

Project Overview

This innovative research investigates attitudes towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with the goal of identifying pathways to non-Indigenous allyship. By understanding how prejudice can be reduced and support for Indigenous rights strengthened, we aim to improve our collective knowledge and foster a more inclusive society.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research aligned with the project goals.
  • Contribute to academic publications and conference presentations that showcase the project's findings.
  • Support ethics, reporting, and coordination tasks related to the project.
  • Enhance the collegial and inclusive research culture of the institution.
  • Assist in mentoring students and supporting research-related teaching where appropriate.
Requirements
  • A PhD (or near completion) in psychology, sociology, political science, Indigenous studies, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in research related to social attitudes, allyship, or Indigenous rights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • The capacity to work independently and as part of a team, fostering collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities is highly desirable.
