This role is part of our Space Systems Materials Team, responsible for developing materials and designs for various spaceflight systems. You will work closely with engineers to provide tribology support, assess wear interfaces, and recommend test campaigns.

About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Tribologist to join our team. As a key member, you will contribute to the development of space systems materials and design solutions. Your expertise in tribology, material selection, and design for producibility will be invaluable in ensuring the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans to characterize friction and wear of tribological systems
  • Collaborate with component design engineers to provide tribology support for rocket engine mechanisms
  • Contribute to the development of materials and designs for various spaceflight systems
  • Recommend and execute test campaigns to screen materials for wear life and damage modalities

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science, or related field
  • At least 8 years of product-focused tribology experience
  • Hands-on experience developing, executing, and leading test plans
  • Expertise in tribology of metal-on-metal interfaces exposed to wide temperature ranges
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this role is $133,989-$196,517, depending on location and experience.
