About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the Australian Research Council (ARC) into its next stage of development. As a strategic and empowering leader, you will drive the continued transformation of the agency in response to government policies, sector expectations, and an evolving research landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the ARC Board and drive the transformation of the agency
  • Champion the significant impact of Australian publicly funded research and advocate for the key role and importance of the ARC in the Australian research ecosystem
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive innovation and excellence in research
  • Build and maintain partnerships with various stakeholders, including government, academia, and industry
  • Provide leadership and direction to the ARC team
Requirements
  • Proven track record of delivering outcomes at scale in a knowledge-intensive setting
  • Strong business acumen and ability to harness diverse interests
  • Experience in building collaborative partnerships and navigating the nuances of government, academia, and industry
  • Significant experience and professional credibility in undertaking or managing research
  • Outstanding and persuasive communication and presentation skills
