Liability Underwriter Specialist

Embark on a challenging career as a Liability Underwriter Specialist in Western Australia, where you will apply your expertise in general insurance underwriting to assess and mitigate complex liability risks. Utilizing your industry knowledge and skills, you will deliver exceptional customer satisfaction and stakeholder engagement.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute targeted underwriting strategies across various markets and accounts within your region of expertise.
  • Underwrite liability insurance risks in accordance with established guidelines and standards, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate closely with account management and business development teams, agents, and brokers to craft innovative coverage solutions through expert negotiation and relationship-building.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, while also pursuing personal growth and development opportunities.
  • Oversee the liability portfolio, encompassing processing, credit management, documentation, and risk servicing, to ensure seamless client experience.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regular visits to agents and brokers, to drive business growth and retention.
About You
  • Proven experience in general liability underwriting, risk management, liability broking, or related fields is essential for success in this role.
  • A solid understanding of insurance legal and regulatory environments, as well as risk analysis principles, is crucial for effective decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital for building trust with clients, agents, brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills are required to evaluate risks accurately and determine suitable coverage.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities are necessary for navigating complex underwriting scenarios and negotiations.
  • A customer-centric approach is essential for delivering personalized service and meeting client needs effectively.
  • Experience with pricing, portfolio management, and intermediary account management is highly desirable.
  • Relevant insurance qualifications, such as ANZIIF Cert IV or equivalent, are preferred but not mandatory.
