Job Description

We are seeking an executive professional to join our team working towards the protection of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

About the Role:

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team in delivering high-quality outcomes, meeting deadlines, and achieving organisational goals.
  • Provide high-level governance for reef intervention programs, including judicious procurement, contract, and budget management.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Australian and Queensland government agencies, Traditional Owners, research institutions, and industries that use the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Offer evidence-based strategic advice to senior executives, the Marine Park Authority Board, and Ministers, ensuring alignment with Government objectives and emerging opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of risk and safety management in the delivery of field activities, including supporting contractors to the Reef Authority.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You are a natural leader with a passion for empowering colleagues.
  • You have experience in setting and meeting strategic objectives, ensuring appropriate resource development and management.
  • You are a highly experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in managing complex projects, including those involving outsourcing of operational works.
  • You possess excellent negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively with individuals, stakeholder groups, and management.
  • You have a proven track record in high-level problem-solving with an emphasis on planning and project management of complex environmental issues.
  • You have extensive experience in contract management and government procurement.
