Job Overview

A Mechanical Engineering Professional with expertise in mechanical systems, calculations, equipment applications and computer-aided design.

Conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. Lead the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes.

The selected candidate will resolve technical issues and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate, select and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a project or assignment.
  2. Design, develop, modify and evaluate mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant engineering procedures, design standards and guides.
  3. Prepare or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports and proposals.
  4. Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors and construction teams.
  5. Provide guidance to other mechanical engineers for specific tasks or projects.
  6. Interact with project functions, clients and regulatory agency personnel to resolve complex technical issues.
  7. Provide technical inputs and evaluations in support of the procurement of mechanical equipment.

Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Skills
  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment and computer-aided design in the discipline.
  • Experience in copper with slurry pumping and handling systems.
  • Experience in the design and specification of bulk materials handling equipment and other mechanical equipment commonly used in mining and metals projects.
  • Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and economics involved.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
