Senior Data Scientist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team at the Victorian Auditor-General's Office. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in helping bridge the gap between technical and non-technical staff in the planning and conduct of our audits.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated data science expert who looks for purpose in their work and is committed to creating better lives for Victorians. You will be responsible for planning and executing complex data analytics projects, applying data and statistical models and techniques to qualitative, real-world problems, and communicating meaningful data insights and reinforcing qualitative storytelling with quantitative results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute complex data analytics projects
  • Apply data and statistical models and techniques to qualitative, real-world problems
  • Communicate meaningful data insights and reinforce qualitative storytelling with quantitative results
  • Collaborate with audit staff to identify opportunities for the inclusion of data analytics methods within audit topics
  • Develop and maintain high-quality data visualizations and reports
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing complex data analytics projects
  • Demonstrated ability to apply data and statistical models and techniques to qualitative, real-world problems
  • Excellent data communication skills, confidently conveying ideas and information in a clear and interesting manner
  • Developed interpersonal, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability and willingness to constructively contribute to the review of others' work
