Student Counsellor Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Student Counsellor at The University of Adelaide.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To provide therapeutic counselling, assessment, risk assessment, and crisis intervention to students in a tertiary education setting.
  • To establish rapport and form a therapeutic alliance with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • To work collaboratively within a team and liaise, negotiate, and resolve conflict in complex situations.
  • To promote organisational values such as integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence, and discovery.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in providing therapeutic counselling, a good working knowledge of brief intervention strategies, and a broad understanding of the wide range and complex needs of students within a tertiary education environment.

The Division of Academic and Student Engagement drives strategic activities related to learning and teaching, including ensuring all Adelaide students have a quality experience and investing in academic staff's professional development.
