About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tourism and Visitor Information Officer to join our team at the Western Downs Regional Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting and marketing tourism, undertaking tourism activities, and delivering services to support the operations of our Visitor Information Centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver efficient and effective Visitor Information Centre activities and operations;
  • Manage the Visitor Information Centre accreditation by maintaining operation manuals, business plans, staff and volunteer training, minimum opening hours, and brochure display requirements;
  • Undertake the delivery of tourism-related projects, including product development, destination marketing, and industry development;
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify and develop innovative solutions to promote tourism in the Western Downs region;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, community groups, and tourism operators to promote the region's tourism offerings;
  • Contribute to the development of tourism strategies and plans to support the growth and development of the tourism industry in the Western Downs region.

Requirements:

  • Experience in tourism marketing and promotion;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Knowledge of the tourism industry and its trends;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
