Volunteer Administration Assistant

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic volunteer to assist our team in completing basic administration activities. The role involves checking appointments, listening to answerphone messages, making lists of patients to respond to, and sending out specific information to patients.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your organizational skills, improve your communication skills, and make a real difference in the lives of others.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work independently, and have good interpersonal skills. You will receive supervision and support from a dedicated member of staff and will have the opportunity to learn new skills and develop existing ones.

  • Check in with your supervisor to gain an understanding of key tasks that need to be completed.
  • Listen to answerphone messages and make a list of patients to respond to.
  • Call patients if necessary to confirm their messages.
  • Check appointments for patients if they call.
  • Keep the epilepsy alerts up to date.
  • Sort out post and send letters out to patients.
  • Making up patient safety information packs – specific age groups.
  • Requesting more packs from other agencies when stock is low.
  • Sending any specific emails as directed by your supervisor.
  • Assist with various data bases – different patient cohorts, e.g transition, maternity to ensure appointments are within pathways.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to your personal development and confidence, and will be making an important contribution to your local community throughout your volunteering journey at the hospital.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be:

  • A minimum of 18 years old.
  • Have a DBS check.
  • Participate in the training relevant to your role and confidential discussion of any reasonable adjustments required to meet your needs.
