Job Description

As a senior estimator, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely cost estimates for complex electrical infrastructure projects. These include transmission lines, substations, and grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of high-voltage infrastructure, including HV infrastructure design, technical specifications, company standards, AS/NZS/IEC regulations, and win strategies.

About You
  • You are an experienced estimator with a proven track record in estimating Australian electrical transmission, substation, BESS, or power projects. Your expertise in the high-voltage world is essential to our success.
  • Technical Mastery: You possess a deep understanding of HV infrastructure, legislative requirements, and key standards, including AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and AS/NZS/IEC 62271 suite.
  • Tender Expertise: You have experience managing major tenders, including proposal writing, resource coordination, and risk assessment.
  • Commercial Acumen: You are able to interpret complex documents, develop accurate pricing models, and justify decisions with data.
  • Collaborative Drive: You possess stellar communication skills to lead bid teams and engage stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Systems Savvy: You are proficient in using estimating software, spreadsheets, and databases.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Master the Tender: Review RFQs, dissect scope, terms, and technical/commercial commitments.
  2. Build Precision Estimates: Develop first-principle models from client/engineering data, including direct/indirect costs, risk, and contingency.
  3. Lead the Bid: Oversee bid writing plans, assign resources, manage deadlines, and ensure compelling, compliant submissions.
  4. Crunch the Numbers: Collate material take-offs, labour costs, and benchmarks into crystal-clear spreadsheets/databases.
  5. Power Collaboration: Work hand-in-glove with Planning, Procurement, Engineering, and Project Development to align estimates, schedules, and methodologies.
  6. Mitigate Risk: Conduct thorough risk assessments and refine costings through senior management reviews.
  7. Own Relationships: Engage suppliers, subcontractors, and industry bodies to source competitive quotes and innovative solutions.
