Senior Prevention and Advocacy Strategist

We are seeking a senior leader to drive our prevention and advocacy initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for shaping our workplace culture and developing strategic programs that make a meaningful impact.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the animal welfare sector, with experience in leadership, program development, and community engagement. You will be responsible for working closely with our CEO to set vision and strategy for prevention and advocacy initiatives, as well as leading the development and implementation of community-based programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement prevention and advocacy strategies that align with our organizational goals
  • Lead the development and implementation of community-based programs, including education, affordable services, and community support
  • Oversee Shelter Diversion initiatives to reduce surrenders
  • Develop sustainable business models for formal education programs
  • Lead advocacy efforts to strengthen Animal Protection Legislation and establish better standards for animals
  • Design and launch impactful Public Awareness Campaigns

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in prevention and advocacy, with a strong understanding of the animal welfare sector
  • Exceptional leadership and strategic skills, with the ability to drive results-oriented programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Tertiary qualification in communications or related discipline
  • Flexibility to work outside of business hours
