A Teacher of Academic Support

">About the Role

The Learning Support Teacher will be responsible for implementing Individual Education Plans with students and families, demonstrating a commitment to catering for diverse learning needs, providing one on one and small group intervention, keeping up to date NCCD documentation, planning and implementing teaching programs or courses of study, having the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students, demonstrating a commitment to improving professional practice through coaching and professional development, providing a child safe environment in accordance with the child safe standards, participating in child safety and wellbeing induction and training provided by the school, acting in accordance with our Child Safety Code of Conduct, identifying and raising concerns about child safety issues in accordance with our Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations Policy and Procedures, ensuring students' views are taken seriously and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives, modelling and promoting the vision and values of the school, teaching an area of the curriculum to senior year levels, maintaining records of class attendance and recording student progress, implementing effective student management consistent with the school's strategic plan, attending and participating in staff meetings as required, and being actively involved in regular staff devotions and prayer.


Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with students and families to implement IEPs
  • Demonstrate a commitment to catering for diverse learning needs

  • Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students;

  • Participate in child safety and wellbeing induction and training provided by the school;
  • Act in accordance with our Child Safety Code of Conduct;
  • Identify and raise concerns about child safety issues in accordance with our Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations Policy and Procedures;
  • Ensure students' views are taken seriously and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives;
  • Model and promote the vision and values of the school;
  • Teach an area of the curriculum to senior year levels;
  • Maintain records of class attendance and recording student progress;
  • Implement effective student management consistent with the school's strategic plan;
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as required;
  • Be actively involved in regular staff devotions and prayer.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Evidence of the right to work in Australia
  • Proof of identity
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Clearance status of the Working with Children Check (where applicable)
  • Registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
  • Statements of service from previous child-connected roles
  • References from previous child-connected roles
