About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Winemaker to join our team of winemakers at Berri Estate. Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, this position will focus on overseeing daily cellar and laboratory activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing ferment tastings during vintage, making blending decisions, and ensuring compliance with bulk wine, packaging, and bottling requirements.
- Leading daily cellar and laboratory activities, including distribution of cellar notes and data entry.
- Overseeing daily ferment tastings during vintage and ensuring timely work order delivery.
- Making tasting and blending decisions for red and white wines to achieve the desired quality and style.
- Monitoring all responsible brand blends, ensuring compliance with bulk wine, packaging, and bottling requirements.
- Executing picking decisions in line with intended volume, quality, and style for responsible brands.
- Proposing and preparing tastings and information for customer visits and new product opportunities.
- Ensuring ongoing certification of risk management systems and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Similar experience working in a large winemaker position or similar.
- Autonomy and flexibility to execute on strategy as well as deliver excellent hands-on work.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering on continuous improvement initiatives aligned with best industry practice.
- Tertiary qualification in winemaking or related science.
- Full working rights - visa holders included.
- Proactivity, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for wine.
