We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Youth Care Specialist to join our Child and Family Services team in Armidale. As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored therapeutic interventions to children and young people in out-of-home care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Daily Care and Support: Meet the daily care needs of children and young people, including personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support needs.
- Maintain a Safe and Quality Care Environment: Contribute to and maintain a safe, clean, and personalized care environment for all children and young people.
- Document and Record Keeping: Accurately document events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young person's journey with us.
- NDIS Plan Support: Ensure children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible while in our care.
- Trauma-Informed Practices: Utilize trauma-informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision for children and young people.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Provide positive behaviour support, therapeutic interventions, and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
- Social Engagement and Community Involvement: Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
- Collaboration and Planning: Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Advocacy and Support: Advocate for the rights and needs of the children and young people, and support them in developing essential life skills.
- Relationship Building: Promote and support positive relationships and connections for children and young people with family, culture, and community.
- Developmental Milestones: Help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy, and thriving life.
We are looking for a care team member who has a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. You will have experience in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, and be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting.
You will understand the importance of trauma-informed care, consistency, and stability in the lives of children and young people. You will be adaptable and able to utilize a broad range of support strategies. You will be committed to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
What We Offer- Competitive Hourly Rates: Competitive hourly rates based on SCHADS Award 2.1 – 2.2
- Salary Packaging: Salary packaging with $15,900 general and $2,650 entertainment benefits
