
Australians Health Support Specialist

The role of Virtual Health Clinician is a key position in supporting Australians with their health concerns through the Healthdirect Helpline, also known as Nurse-on-Call in Victoria.
As a Virtual Health Clinician, you will provide guidance to callers who are unsure if they should see a doctor or manage their condition at home. You will assess symptoms, conduct comprehensive telephone assessments, and recommend the appropriate time and place of care.
You will refer callers to other services such as the GP Helpline, Urgent Care Clinics, and Virtual Emergency Departments.

Requirements:
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 3 years
- At least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience within the last 5 years as a Registered Nurse
- A varied nursing background involving substantial public contact
- Confidence in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure situations across all age groups and clinical presentations
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal

Additional Information:
This is a part-time or full-time position with flexible shifts. The initial engagement is a fixed-term contract until 30th June 2026. Training and start dates are scheduled for September 2025.
