Job Title: Quality and Safety Associate

About this role, we are seeking an experienced Quality and Safety Associate to join our team on a Permanent Part-time basis.

  • Provide leadership and support to the Hospital/Service Quality and Safety Manager and clinical department managers to implement quality and risk management systems and improve quality and safety outcomes;
  • Investigate incidents and complaints, coordinate actions to prevent recurrence, and work collaboratively with other clinicians to facilitate process improvement strategies that support patient safety and the achievement of quality and safety goals;
  • Collect and analyze patient safety and clinical outcome data to evidence the effectiveness of the quality and safety system, evaluate quality and safety outcome data to identify opportunities for continual improvement, and make recommendations to relevant hospital committees;
  • Work in collaboration with Hospital Executive to coordinate the implementation of recommendations arising from root cause analysis or other system or case review, monitor literature and professional organizations for new or revised best practice related to quality and safety, and continuously evaluate and improve the hospital's quality and safety program based on internal needs and external requirements and standards;
Requirements:
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office suite; including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health service delivery with appropriate clinical knowledge, experience, and skills is essential, including a basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple areas of the hospital;
  • Awareness and/or experience in healthcare accreditation and regulatory requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives and their practical application;
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced analytical skills to trend and interpret data and provide reports on data/information used for projects, evaluation, and process improvement activities;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing working relationships to achieve identified outcomes and an ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and issues regarding patient safety;
  • Developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated communication, consultation, facilitation, and negotiation skills, including report writing and presentation skills, including experience in the use of computer software;
  • Ability to effectively lead and implement change in a complex environment;
