Cryogenic Engineer Industrial Placement Opportunity

We are seeking an Industrial Placement student to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a Cryogenic Engineer, you will be working on the development of critical technology for the next generation of European Space Agency (ESA) flight missions.
Key Responsibilities- Designing concept mechanical components for cryocooler products and tooling
- Preparing and running experiments to validate and improve design modeling
- Integrating new findings from literature work
- Methodically documenting findings
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025
- First year results demonstrate high grades in lab/project work
- First year results are strong in general theory/maths
- Able to communicate clear complex thoughts in both spoken and written forms
- Interested in applied research/design
