Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operative Theatre Technician to join our dynamic perioperative team in Brisbane.

About the Role

This is a key opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in our central sterilising service. As an Operative Theatre Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all instrumentation is properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilised to meet AS/NZ standards 4187 2014 and GENCA requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Thermal disinfection inspection, packaging, and sterilisation of all instrumentation for theatre and other clinical areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and guidelines, including AS/NZ 4187 2014 and GENCA.
  • Operating, interpreting, and documenting all machinery operational requirements.
  • Reporting and documenting all quality activities.
  • Ensuring priority of instrumentation and processes.
Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert-level knowledge of instrumentation, including its preparation, cleaning, and sterilisation.
  • Collaborating with the perioperative team to ensure seamless execution of surgical procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and testing.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A sound knowledge of AS/NZ 4187 2014 and GENCA standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking systems and endoscopy reprocessing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills, including MS Office and various database applications.
