Job Overview
The primary objective of this role is to provide strategic guidance, operational oversight, and advisory support to enhance safety performance and foster a culture of safety and care within the organization.
This includes leading the development, monitoring, and review of the Safety Strategy, collaborating with stakeholders for effective implementation, ensuring alignment with overall business imperatives, managing compliance of notifiable incidents, handling serious incidents, and improvement notices, as well as preparing self-insurance audits and reviewing SH&W performance.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the development, monitoring, and review of the Safety Strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders for effective implementation and ensure alignment with overall business imperatives.
- Manage compliance of notifiable incidents, handle serious incidents, and improvement notices.
- Prepare self-insurance audits and take accountability for closing out action plans.
- Monitor the audit process within your brand, escalate corrective actions, and ensure compliance with Self-Insurance requirements.
- Review SH&W performance, benchmarking against best practice standards.
- Support the management of the Risk Profile and oversee brand specific risks by regularly reviewing and updating risk assessments.
- Monitor and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) across all sites, ensuring currency and compliance.
- Maintain records and data within procedural requirements, ensuring information is current, compliant, and readily accessible.
- Develop and lead a high-impact team of 4 Safety professionals, overseeing SH&W reporting for internal and external bodies.
- Provide advice to the Leadership team on all matters related to Safety, Health & Wellbeing, acting as an internal consultant.
Requirements
- Diploma in Wellbeing, Health &Safety (minimum).
- Experience within a relevant or similar role (5 years).
- Experience managing and influencing external and internal stakeholders.
- Leadership and coaching experience, with the ability to facilitate training sessions to groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Strong focus on strategic planning.
- Proven experience in investigating complex incidents, identifying the root cause, and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- ICAM and Chain of Responsibility training is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of HVNL and relevant legislation.
- Experience developing and influencing business-wide strategies, programs, and initiatives is desirable.
- First aid and Mental Health training is desirable.
