About Us

At Anglicare Victoria, we are committed to transforming the futures of children and young people, families, and adults. Our work is guided by three core principles: Prevent, Protect, and Empower. We strive to provide high-quality services that make a significant difference in the lives of the young people, children, and families we serve.

Your Role

As a Family Services Practitioner, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of families and using a range of techniques and approaches to engage with vulnerable young families in a respectful and sustainable way. You will work collaboratively with families, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators (LACs), and Support Coordinators to identify the disability support needs of children and prevent families from seeking alternative care arrangements.

You will undertake comprehensive assessments of families, including child development and systemic perspectives, and provide parenting support in various ways to enhance parents' confidence and learning. You will intervene using a family-centered approach that builds on family strengths and support strategies, ensuring that decision-making is consistent with family-led practice and principles.

You will also provide support for parents and children, ensuring they have access to easy-to-understand information and supporting healthy and positive decisions regarding their care. This will involve delivering a range of intervention modes and approaches to enhance parenting capacity, parent-child relationships, and social connectedness.

As a member of our team, you will be committed to the development and maintenance of a cohesive team and participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and staff development. You will also participate in regular supervision, group supervision, and reflective practice, both individually and as part of a team.

About You

We are seeking an individual with a demonstrated understanding and commitment to working within the Best Interest Principles outlined in the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005. You will have the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in the best interest of the child and possess a strong understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect.

You will have the capability to engage children and families experiencing multiple and complex needs, including disability, family violence, and substance abuse. You will also be able to conduct comprehensive child-focused safety and wellbeing assessments and make sound judgments regarding prescribed actions.

We are looking for an individual with highly developed communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline at degree level or diploma level with relevant experience in child welfare.
