Airport Operations Excellence Lead

We are Australia's largest regional, domestic, and international airline, founded in the Queensland outback in 1920. Our Group has a range of subsidiary businesses that support our overall operations. We transport customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.
Job RoleThis role involves leading operational, transformational, and strategic resource planning for our teams at Melbourne Airport. As the planning lead for two regions (Melbourne & Adelaide), you will work across our customer service departments to deliver workforce planning outcomes by identifying and implementing resourcing efficiencies, managing costs within forecasts, resource planning and budgeting, and meeting group KPIs.
You will provide insights and influence needed to drive ongoing optimisation of rostering and resource deployment across the region, identify improvements that create a more engaging experience for our people, and ensure compliance and adherence to EBAs of our workforce planning processes.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead strategic planning for the region, hold a strategic portfolio, and lead national Airports programs related to workforce utilisation, planning, and effectiveness of the region, as part of the broader national planning function.
- Hold a critical industrial relations lead for the port, leading union and staff interactions and consultations regarding resourcing matters and often national programs.
- Be the recruitment lead for the region, anticipating forecasted requirements with support from WFP and ensuring the region is set up for success.
- Significant experience in a strategic workforce planning role or similar.
- Previous experience leading through peer and matrix relationships.
- Experience managing a large cohort.
- Strong business partnering skills including the ability to build strong relationships, support partners with actionable insights, and constructively challenge where appropriate.
- The ability to think 'big picture' – using experience and conceptual ability to cut through complexity and bring new ideas to the business.
- The determination to succeed and a track record of achieving targets.
- Working knowledge of industrial relations practice and human resources policies and procedures.
- Proficient Excel skills.
- A proven record of successfully managing change and implementing continuous improvement activities.
- Management experience in an operational environment.
- Concise understanding of all aspects of operational, safety, security, and emergency procedures as applicable.
- Broad understanding across all aspects of airline business, with specific airport-related experience in operations, compliance, service, and product.
