At the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Officer to join our Systems Immunology group.
The successful candidate will conduct original research under limited supervision, contributing to team and Garvan research projects. Responsibilities include completing research projects in an efficient and timely manner, publishing outcomes in peer-reviewed journals, presenting research at national/international conferences, and co-supervising students and junior research staff.
Key skills and experience required include a PhD degree in a related area of science or engineering, good statistical knowledge and programming skills, and previous experience analysing and interpreting genomics data.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with Unix and in an HPC environment, proficient in at least one scripting language (R, Python), familiar with version control systems, and experienced with software containers, workflow management systems, databases, and cloud computing.
As a member of our team, you will have opportunities for on-going training and development, flexible work arrangements, 18 weeks paid parental leave for both parents including paid superannuation, and a range of additional leave types to meet your personal needs.
