Research Officer - Housing Affordability & Teacher Shortage

About the Role

This is a fixed-term position for 2 years to support research projects in the areas of housing affordability and teacher shortage. The Research Officer will provide technical and research assistance to senior research staff, contributing to data science, housing and transportation analysis, and education labour markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide research support to stakeholders, assisting in the conduct of research on housing affordability and teacher shortage.
  • Support the conceptualisation, design, and successful conduct of projects with data science and visualisation components.
  • Prepare and contribute to the production of technical reports, manuscripts for publication, and tenders or grants for external funding.
  • Manage databases, coordinating and executing data cleaning, data management processes, and ensuring research integrity.
  • Perform quantitative/qualitative data analyses as required by the research project.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in data, urban, or education science, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Significant experience working with Python, QGIS, and large data sets.
  • Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design, and planning involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
