Cedar College seeks a visionary educator to lead the Primary School as Head, joining the Senior Leadership Team in a pivotal role. This full-time position offers a three-year tenure with reappointment possible by mutual agreement.

As Head of Primary, you will provide strong leadership across the school to advance Cedar College's mission of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and community wellbeing. You will collaborate closely with the Primary School Leadership Team and senior leaders to uphold and implement the college's values and strategic goals effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Primary School Leadership Team to provide clear accountability and strategic direction aligned with the college's ethos.
  • Overseeing the recruitment, performance management, and professional development of all Primary School teaching and support staff to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitoring student progress, wellbeing, and behaviour, implementing pastoral care strategies for a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Managing key R-6 school events such as graduation ceremonies, parent-teacher nights, sports days, and special celebrations through delegation.
  • Participating in enrolment interviews and supporting enrolment decisions.
  • Leading spiritual formation within the Primary School through devotions, chapel services, and collaboration with chaplaincy staff.
  • Maintaining clear communication with staff, students, parents, and the wider community to foster transparency, collaboration, and a positive school culture.

Essential Criteria:

  • A sincere and active faith in Jesus Christ demonstrated through involvement in a local church community.
  • A strong passion for Christian education with a commitment to integrating a biblical worldview into curriculum, pedagogy, and professional relationships.
  • Registered teacher with at least five years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care certificate.
  • Valid Teachers Registration in South Australia.

Desirable Attributes:

  • At least two years of leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in education, leadership, or a related field, or a demonstrated commitment to ongoing postgraduate study.
  • Previous experience teaching in a Christian environment.
