Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Executive Speechwriter to join our team at Flexhive. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality speeches and communications for senior leaders, including the Minister and executives.

About the Role:

  • Create engaging speeches and communication materials for top-level government leaders, showcasing your exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Coach and mentor a talented team of ongoing APS staff, boosting their speechwriting capabilities and adding value to our team.
  • Juggle competing tasks while delivering excellence under pressure, demonstrating your ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality speeches and communication materials that meet the needs of senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistency and quality in all communications.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to APS staff to enhance their speechwriting capabilities.
  • Manage competing tasks and deadlines, prioritizing tasks to meet the needs of the team and senior leaders.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in speechwriting for government and executive leaders, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality communications.
  • Proven ability to lead capability-building initiatives, helping others to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders and team members.
  • A talent for persuasion and influence, combined with the ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver results under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to coach and develop team members.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Solid experience in government and executive speechwriting, with a strong understanding of the sector and its requirements.
  • A degree or diploma in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing (or equivalent experience), with a strong focus on writing and communication skills.
  • NV1 Clearance - or ability to obtain and retain NV1.
