Job Role Overview:

The Senior Lawyer position is a critical role within our organization, responsible for delivering high-quality legal services to clients in a culturally safe and appropriate manner.

This senior-level role will provide expert legal advice and support to clients, working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver intake, social work, and cultural support services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-quality legal services to clients, including casework assistance and report preparation.
  2. Work collaboratively with the national legal team and other teams delivering intake, social work, and cultural support services to clients.
  3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other partners to ensure effective service delivery.
  4. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the organization's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  5. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of strategies to improve service delivery and client outcomes.
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with changes in legislation, policy, and best practice.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in law (LLB or JD) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a legal setting, preferably in a senior or management role.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
