About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Safety Officer to join our team at the Queensland Government. As a Child Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, belonging, and wellbeing of all children and young people in the child protection process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver High-Quality Child Protection Services: You will be responsible for delivering accountable and collaborative integrated child protection services for complex cases, respecting the culture and context of each child, young person, family, and community.
  • Assessment and Intervention: You will undertake high-quality strengths-based child protection practice, including assessment, intervention, casework, and complex case management, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: You will participate and contribute productively as a team member, forming culturally appropriate, professional working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, including children, young people, and families, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), and other service providers.
  • Quality Service Delivery: You will foster a culture and philosophy of quality frontline service delivery based on collaboration, cooperation, commitment to excellence, and professional ethics.
  • Case Management and Record Keeping: You will maintain high-quality case records in accordance with departmental case management requirements.
  • Professional Development: You will participate and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training, and professional development to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence-based.
  • Quality Improvement: You will contribute to continuous quality improvement strategies.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: You will draw on professional practice experience in relevant child protection fields to provide coaching and mentoring to new and less experienced Child Safety Officers, to develop their skills and knowledge.
