Job Summary

  • Ensure compliance with yard procedures and standards to guarantee a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate trucks, cranes, and other vehicles or equipment through the facility efficiently.
  • Load and unload offshore containers, freight, and specialist equipment correctly.
  • Comply with chain of responsibility requirements to minimize risks.
  • Operate yard/warehouse equipment safely and effectively, including hand trolleys, pallet jacks, scales, air compressors, high-pressure water cleaners, loading ramps, and fuel pumps.
  • Stuff and de-stuff offshore containers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard area.
  • Control stock of received and dispatched containers accurately.
  • Store stock in vessel order and meet customer needs promptly.
  • Ensure efficient operation of site plant and equipment.
  • Provide support in operations areas as required.
  • Adhere to all SHS policies and procedures.
  • Sort and organize customer goods efficiently.
  • Complete transport and logistics paperwork (con notes, manifests, etc.) accurately and on time.
  • Inspect customer goods and equipment for signs of wear or damage.
  • Clean vehicles, equipment, and customer goods using high-pressure water cleaners and air compressors when necessary.
  • Perform daily pre-start checks and inspections on all plant and equipment before use.
  • Report any damages, faulty equipment, incidents, or accidents in a timely manner.
  • Operate all vehicles correctly and safely.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in similar roles with relevant experience.
  • Hold a high-risk forklift ticket and have experience handling tubular equipment with a 16-ton forklift.
  • Be able to work independently, using a proactive approach to task resolution.
  • Display flexibility and adaptability to work in demanding environments.
  • Understand current load restraint standards and requirements.
  • Have basic knowledge of warehousing and inventory principles and practices.
  • Possess adequate numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Understand requirements for handling and consigning dangerous goods.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Able to receive written and verbal instructions and complete requested tasks accordingly.
  • Identify problems or hazards and suggest alternative solutions.
  • Hold a manual driver's license.
  • Knowledgeable about applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards, Main Road Heavy vehicle legislation, and permitting standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with various people.
  • Work well within a small team environment.
