Central Coast Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Officer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic communications plans to inform and guide the business on the best way to reach and inform our community, as well as our internal staff, on matters of importance.

The role covers all channels including social media, intranet, website, media releases and more.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist advice to stakeholders on all communication issues affecting CCC and supporting implementation of staff engagement initiatives undertaken across Council
  • Planning and implementing annual communication campaigns, including the coordination of one or more communication channels whilst working within a reputation management framework
  • Accurately planning, preparing and constructing a wide range of CCC material including newspaper columns, media statements, display advertisements, brochures, fact sheets, briefing notes, speech notes, and undertaking digital communication activities such as uploading eNews, social media, website and intranet copy

About the role:

  • Ideal candidate will have a degree in Communications, Media, Marketing or related field, with solid contemporary experience in a similar role in a large and complex organisation with a high public profile
  • Experience across the full range of communications channels, and a strategic and innovative approach which ensures solutions deliver on business objectives
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills
